Mike Hughes has been paart of the BCHS Soccer Program for 5 years now. The 1st year he arrived at Boone County, the soccer team made it all the way to the Regionals but lost in the first round to Calvary Christian. That's the farthest this team has been in those 5 years. Coach Hughes plans on breaking that streak soon though. This year, the team had a decent season. They finished 13-8-1, they got knocked out in the 1st round of districts; everyone wishes to re-do at least one moment of their life right? I can guess that every girl onthe team would easily say they wished they could of re-done that unforgetable night.
Before he came to Boone, he taught at Holmes High School and was the Softball coach. I know what your thinking, why would a Softball caoch change to Soccer? Trust me, I thought the same thing. But actually, Hughes played soccer back in the day when he was in highschool. He finished his senior year with 30 goals, 1st team all-state, and All-midwest region. He was a pretty big deal back then, and doesn't let his team forget it. If you watch a practice he is coaching, you'll always see him either showing off his moves, juggling, or playing the famous cross bar game. It seems that he can't do without a soccerball. He is currently a coach of 3 soccer teams at the moment (Highschool, Select Team, His Son's Team.) He is indeed, a dedicated coach; I don't think I would be able to see him do anything else but coach soccer. He is respected in this program. He doesn't know how many people look up to him. Hopefully he continues changing people's lives, like he changed mine.
